Import FAQ
Everything you ever wanted to know about imports!
Q. What do the prices quoted on the website include?
Prices include full conversions to UK specification and any compliance testing (SVA or ESVA) as required. A 12 Month UK MOT (if required), a 3 Month Warranty (Warranty details below), a full professional Valet and a multipoint inspection from our accredited servicing technician. 6 Month Road tax is supplied with vehicles ordered when "In Transit" from Japan.
Q. What are "Model Reports" and how does compliance testing affect the importing of cars from Japan?
The SVA rules changed on April 1st 2004 - Models manufactured after 31/12/96 in Japan require a Model Report to pass the ESVA (Enhanced Single Vehicle Approval) test in the UK. This is because emissions laws in the UK were more stringent than Japanese laws at this time.
The model report is a comparison report, which compares a car that has proved to be UK compliant to the one presented to VOSA. In order to pass, the vehicle must be completely standard and match the exact same specification as the original vehicle used for the report. We have a stock of standard parts for cars that require ESVA so that mildly modified examples can also pass the test.
Some rarer cars made after 1997 do not have Model Reports, either because the emissions are too high (RX-7's/VVTi Supra's etc) or the cost of development for a report (usually £5000 +) makes it unviable for a car that will only be imported in small numbers. Cars made after 1999 are usually fairly easy to create a Model Report for, as at this time the Japanese emissions criteria fell back into line with European laws.
You can check availability of current Model Reports at either:

Q. What are the benefits of using a UK based Import Company over one based in Japan?
Torque GT is a registered company in the UK (Reg No: 5128481) and therefore is governed by UK Consumer laws, which help protect consumers in the event of any future problems. We inspect our cars very carefully before purchase but there can be some minor problems that inevitably occur from time to time. We pride ourselves on our after sales care and relationships with our customers. It's a lot easier to deal with someone in the UK than on the other side of the world.
Q. Do you take P/X?
We're happy to offer p/x against any of our vehicles. We particularly welcome Japanese performance cars but will offer a p/x value against any vehicle. We have a network of trade contacts and can easily place your current vehicle on your behalf to save hassle if you wish.
Q. Do you offer finance for the cars you supply?
Torque GT are registered with the Office of Fair Trading under the Consumer Credit Act of 1974; Licence number 561211.
We can cater for many different financial circumstances and our packages are tailored to suit your individual needs. Please contact

Q. Do you take Credit/Debit Cards as payment?
We can take payment from any type of Credit or Debit Card as a deposit or full payment against any of our vehicles. Credit Card transactions are subject to an interest charge as dictated by our Service Provider. Please contact
enquiries@torque-gt.co.uk for more details of charges for your Credit Card. Card payments are subject to identification checks for security purposes as applicable.
Q. How can I hold/reserve a car?
Please contact us by phone 01364 642810 or e-mail
enquiries@torque-gt.co.uk to discuss reserving any vehicle shown on this website. Card payments as deposits can be taken over the phone during office hours.
Q. Do you sell your cars with a warranty?
Torque GT include a 3-month warranty with every vehicle supplied. This is included in the vehicle price quoted on this website. We can offer longer termed warranties with varying levels of cover. Please contact
enquiries@torque-gt.co.uk for more details and pricing.
Q. Do your vehicles have UK approved security systems as standard?
Car crime isn't the issue in Japan that it is here in the UK. Most vehicles have no security when imported. If the car has an alarm most likely it won't be recognised in the UK for insurance purposes. Our accredited technicians can install a range of Security and Audio products to vehicles ready for collection. Please contact
enquiries@torque-gt.co.uk for more details and pricing.
Q. Do you supply parts?
Yes, we offer OEM and Aftermarket parts for all Japanese Domestic Market vehicles.
Details of upgrade packages for selected vehicle can be found in our upgrades section of this site. Please contact
